Organizational Structure of Education

The Education Executive Group, chaired by the General Chairperson, oversees the Education system of the SOA. The volunteer structure of Education is comprised of three separate committee groups. The Curriculum Committees are responsible for the selection and development of the study material. The Examination Committees are responsible for the development and grading of the examinations. The e-Learning Committees are responsible for the development, maintenance and grading of the e-Learning components. All committees report to the General Chairperson. Each individual committee has its own Chairperson and General Officers.

The curriculum committees are responsible for determining the content of syllabi and learning objectives. Input and suggestions for improvements may come from many sources, including the examination committees, Sections and Practice Areas, the SOA membership, academics, candidates, and SOA staff fellows.

The examination committees are responsible for specified examinations. Each individual examination committee develops and is responsible for the initial review of all of the questions to be included in its examination and recommends the pass mark for its examination.

The e-Learning Committees are responsible for developing and maintaining module content and the associated study materials as well as developing and maintaining the embedded activities, end of module exercises, interim and final assessments, and the grading of these components.
