In Memory of John Swain Fry

John Swain Fry, FSA, passed away March 27, 2008 at the age of 79. Fry spent most of his career at Continental Assurance Company (CNA), serving as vice president of Systems.

Fry was born 1928 in Chicago. He raised his family in Wilmette and retired to Elmhurst. He was the loving father of Leslie Fry, Wendy Fry, Timothy Fry, Jamie Markko, Nicholas Fry and Jennifer Evans; he was the proud grandfather of 18 and friends of many.

Fry was a kind, loving and generous man who enjoyed life and had a remarkable laugh. He cherished his family and friendships. He often expressed pride in his children and grandchildren and demonstrated unconditional love to them while also teaching them sound values.

Some of his unique personality traits were: photographic memory, voracious reader, ultra-organized, orator, techno-geek, walking encyclopedia and movie trivia collector. Fry loved to travel with his friends and family. He was a photographer, bridge champion, sports fan, roller coaster buff and enjoyed a wide variety of arts. He will forever be appreciated and missed by family and friends.
