Deceased Members–2008
In Memory of Ron Haneberg
Ron Haneberg, FSA, passed away on Sept. 7, 2008 at the age of 65. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, and attended the University of Cincinnati on a National Merit Scholarship, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Haneberg earned his Juris doctorate from St. Louis University and was a member of the Missouri bar.
Haneberg's actuarial career began at Union Central, where he met his future wife, Janet. He entered the pension field, working through ERISA at Meidinger in Louisville during the 1970s. He then worked for Buck Consultants, first in New York and later opening a Dallas office. After Haneberg retired from Buck in 1988, he consulted on pension matters, most notably for the IRS. Throughout his career, he was a frequent speaker at actuarial functions.
Haneberg loved to travel, and was especially fond of visiting natural wonders such as those at Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Smoky Mountains. He enjoyed spectator sports (attending the NCAA Tournament every year since 1975) and was a voracious reader.
He is survived by his wife Janet Haneberg; his three children, Robert Haneberg, Brittany Worsham and Melissa Haneberg; his sister Rita Baker; and two grandchildren, Holden and Thomas Worsham.
