In Memory of Hubert Mueller

Hubert Mueller, FSA, MAAA, CERA, 48, of Newbury Court, Simsbury, beloved husband of Susan M. (Kreuzer) Mueller, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at Hartford Hospital. He was born Nov. 22, 1960 in Baden-Baden, Germany, son of Helmut and Maria (Schwoerer) Mueller of Germany and had lived in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany prior to moving to Simsbury 10 years ago.

Born and educated in Germany, he received a master's degree in mathematics and economics (Wirtschaftsmathematik) from the Albert Einstein University at Ulm, Germany. He also received a master's degree in probability and statistics from Syracuse University. Mueller was employed by Towers Perrin for over 23 years, promoted to principal in 1997.

Mueller was a member of the First Church of Christ in Simsbury, a member of the Hartford Saengerbund and a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA). He was an active participant of the SOA, especially with regard to his service on various committees, task forces and section councils including the following: Spring Meetings Program Committee, Annual Meeting Program Committee, Risk Management Research Team, Risk Management Continuing Education Team, Extreme Value Models Task Force, Policyholder Behavior in the Tail Task Force, Enterprise Risk Management and Best Practices Task Force, International Section Council, Investment Section Council and Risk Management Section Council.

He was an avid skier and a fan of the FC Bayern Muenchen Soccer Team. Besides his loving wife of 22 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Stefanie and Christine Mueller of Simsbury; and his four siblings, Sabine, Gabi, Silvi and Helmut, all of Germany.
