Deceased Members–2009
In Memory of Glenn T. Wilson
Glenn T. Wilson, ASA, MAAA, passed away on Jan. 4, 2009, at the age of 57. Wilson (GT) graduated from Brown University in less than four years and received a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics. He later graduated from Columbia University with a master's degree in business administration.
Over the course of his career, he worked as an actuary at CIGNA and AETNA. After he graduated from Columbia Business School, he worked as a vice president for Carver Federal Savings Bank, the largest African American and Caribbean American Bank in the United States. He left the banking industry and formed his own company, 4ACTS, an actuarial consulting and recruitment company.
Perhaps his most important contribution to the profession was as a mentor and advisor to many African American actuaries. At the time of his death, he was tutoring children in mathematics and the sciences. Wilson was an extremely outgoing, talkative friend to many.
Wilson is survived by his loving wife Cookie; two daughters, Kimberly and Candice; and three sons, Gamaal, Kareem and Ahmad.
