In Memory of Judith Ann Whinfrey
Judith Ann Whinfrey, nee Lynk, ASA, of Geneva, Illinois, passed away on January 17, 2010. Whinfrey was born on June 21, 1949, in Evanston, Illinois. She attended Saint Athanasius Catholic School, Marywood High School, and received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois.
Whinfrey was principal and managing consultant with Hewitt Associates for more than 30 years; a founder of the Hewitt Women in Leadership initiative; served on the Hewitt Executive Committee 1995-2002 and was a past member of its Board of Directors. In addition, she was a board member of Central DuPage Health System (past chair), Benedictine University and S&C Electric Company. She was also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and past president, Western Pension Conference.
Whinfrey was the first female certificate member of Chicago Golf Club; member of Secession Golf Club, Beaufort SC, and the first female member to play in annual Blue-Grey matches. She lived life to the fullest, inspiring her family and many friends with her positive energy and enthusiasm, always encouraging others to excel, to be committed to one's family and life's work, to expand horizons, to travel, and to welcome adventure. Her vibrant spirit and engaging presence brought great joy to all who knew her. Whinfrey cherished her role as a nurturing and devoted aunt and will always be remembered for the special love she shared with her nieces and nephews. She is greatly loved and deeply missed by her husband and family, who will carry her beauty, her smile, and her spirit with them always.
Beloved wife and best friend of Peter K. Whinfrey; treasured sister and sister-in-law of William (Lindy) Lynk, Jane Lynk, Jill (Joseph, Jr.) Valenti, John (Mary) Lynk, Barbara (Kurt Meinecke) Lynk, and Michael (Julie) Lynk; loving daughter-in-law of Mary and the late Charles Whinfrey; fond sister-in-law of Donald (Ginger) Whinfrey and Jane (Roger) Harris; cherished aunt of Julie (Alan), John, Luke, Alexander, Daniel, Kate, Nicholas, Catherine, Sara, Dana, Leo, Clara, Joseph, and Russell, and Emily, Scott, Abigail (Jeffrey), Andrew, and Colin; dear niece of Julie Minus, Joseph Lynk, and Charlotte Harris, and also survived by many loving relatives. Preceded in death by parents Helen Elizabeth and Leo Francis Lynk.
