In Memory of Robert G. Utter
Robert G. Utter, FSA, MAAA, EA, FCIA, died Monday, August 1, 2005 at the age of 62. Bob lived his entire life in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating from Drake University in 1964. He worked at Principal Financial Group for 35 years, retiring in 1999 as second vice president. He was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, the Local and International Iowa Sister States Board, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries where he was former chairperson of The Futurism Section, American Academy of Actuaries, Enrolled Actuary, Fellow of Canadian Institute of Actuaries, member of Greater Des Moines Sports Authority Board, past president of the Iowa Amateur Athletic Union, Past National Baseball Chair AAU, executive director of the AAU Junior Olympic Games in 1995 and 2004, Iowa Games volunteer, former member of the Governor's Council for Physical Fitness, basketball and baseball coach for Iowa AAU and Grandview Little League and was involved with International Sports Exchanges with Japan, Russia, Australia and China.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ruth (Graham) Utter. He is survived by many friends and colleagues.
