In Memory of Stuart Robertson
Stuart Robertson, FSA, 87, died November 4, 2005 at home on Bainbridge Island, Washington, his longtime home.
Robertson was born February 28, 1918 in Montesano, Washington to George and Ann (McLeod) Robertson, the youngest of six children. He graduated from Montesano High School in 1934 and attended the University of Washington and the University of Idaho.
In 1939, he married Marjory Moch, also of Montesano; they were married nearly 66 years. Their son, Richard, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a former SOA president. They also had a daughter, Ann Corn, who died in 1975.
Robertson was a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a past member of the Board. He was co-founder and retired chairman of Milliman & Robertson, now Milliman, Inc., a large international actuarial consulting firm. He was a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and is a Puget Sound Business Hall of Fame Laureate.
In retirement, Robertson and Marg spent much time in Lihue, Hawaii. Over the years, he was a mentor to many actuaries and his solid integrity and forthright professionalism is a hallmark of the Milliman firm.
A memorial fund has been established in the Actuarial Foundation.
