Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) Grants
Colleges and universities that have attained CAE status are eligible to compete for SOA-sponsored grants. These grants would allow universities to make significant investments in their programs, research and the profession. Each year, the SOA awards a grant in two areas: education and research. Award amounts and durations can range between $50,000 and $100,000 per annum over a period of three to five years. Applications for multi- and single-year grants will be accepted.
Grant Types:
Education
Education grants are awarded to a CAE school with an outstanding education proposal. Submitted applications can include, but are not limited to, initiatives such as curriculum development (including textbooks), program expansion, introduction of graduate student programs, or the development of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs. Proposed projects should strive to produce results that create far-reaching benefits to the actuarial profession.
Research
The SOA may offer a preferred research topic for a particular application year. When a preferred research topic is offered, participants may submit a proposal on that topic or on a topic of their choosing. Preference will be given to the suggested topic; however, exceptional proposals in other topic areas will be considered. Regardless of whether a suggested research topic is offered, applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that demonstrate benefits to the actuarial profession.
Note: Only one application for each of the grant types will be accepted per CAE School.
