Program Overview
Increase your valuation knowledge by taking part in this innovative seminar, specifically designed for those who want in–depth knowledge of issues facing health actuaries. Participants will come away with deeper insights into methods, current thinking and alternative solutions to current issues in valuation and reserving. The program is not intended to duplicate existing valuation programs as it will focus on health–related issues in more detail.
This is a seminar designed for the following:
- A health actuary involved in financial reporting and valuation;
- A corporate actuary at a health care company; and
- Any other professional that deals with valuation and reporting for health products.
Topics:
- Basic reserving principles and types of reserves
- Variations by types of products
- The audiences and requirements for reporting
- Current issues such as block buster drugs, obesity, and international accounting
- Resources
- Data quality
Experts will address recent and emerging accounting requirements and practices for various health products.
For attendees of the boot camp, there is a special three–hour session on Wednesday, August 13, to fulfill the American Academy of Actuaries' requirement for continuing education credits in professionalism. This professionalism session will include a review of the new Academy Qualification Standards, as well as ASOPs 31, 41, and 42. The session will also include a question and answer period.
Attendance at this seminar will be limited to 120 participants in order to provide each attendee with the opportunity to ask questions and achieve his learning objectives. Enrollment will be on a first–come, first–served basis.
