The International Accounting/Fair Value Accounting List Serve will be a medium to
share thoughts on issues of interest to actuaries whose current or future work requires knowledge in
these areas. Subject areas expected to be discussed include:
- Passing the word when news becomes available in the media or on the internet
such as a March 27, 2002, wire service report quoting a Washington, D.C., based life insurance trade
association actuary.
- Your theory (or critique of another theory) regarding some aspect of
International or Fair Value Accounting

U. S. Statutory Current Issues List Serve
The U.S. Statutory list serve will be a medium to share thoughts on issues of
interest to actuaries whose current or future work involves calculating and reporting Statutory
reserves, risk based capital, and related items. Subject areas expected to be discussed include:
- reserves
- risk–based capital
- AVR/IMR
- the actuarial opinion and memorandum
- the various supplemental experience exhibits
Individuals may want to:
- comment on the implications of the recently adopted changes to the NAIC Model Actuarial Opinion and Memorandum Regulation
- suggest potential changes to the NAIC Model Standard Valuation Law
- ask specific questions regarding existing models or models under development
- make comments relative to statutory reporting requirements unique to certain states
