Schaumburg, Ill.–A local Hudson man has earned the Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) credential offered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), an educational, research and professional organization.
In an ever–evolving global business arena, there is a growing demand for risk professionals who can provide smart, confident decisions for complex financial challenges. Berger, an actuary at Ameriprise Financial, understood the need to take part in proven training methods that go beyond mathematics and financial engineering. Now, as a CERA, he is qualified for such positions as risk analyst, risk manger and chief risk officer in areas such as insurance, benefits, broader financial services and the energy, manufacturing, transportation and healthcare industries.
"With the increasingly complex and evolving business environment, organizations are seeking enterprise risk management professionals to join their teams," said Cecil Bykerk, president of the SOA. "A CERA provides the strongest ERM approach that enables smart, more confident business decisions."
Professionals can obtain this international credential by completing a rigorous curriculum, which encompasses the most comprehensive demonstration of enterprise risk management (ERM) available. The new CERA credential stems from the same rigorous process through which actuaries earn their traditional credentials.
To earn the credential, CERA candidates like Berger must successfully complete five examinations, as well as an educational module and professionalism course. This curriculum helps prepare canudidates for leadership in the identification, measurement and management of risk within complex, risk–bearing enterprises.
