Individual Health Insurance.
Edited by Frances T. O'Grady. $40.
C1988. Society of Actuaries. Appendices. Index. This textbook is
intended to provide basic training in the fundamentals of the
actuarial aspects of individual health insurance. It was planned and
written to be compatible with the rest of the syllabus material for
the Society of Actuaries Fellowship examinations and at a level of
difficulty consistent with that material. While it can, therefore,
be considered to be a higher level college text, it should be useful
to all health professionals, including actuaries, who want to get
back to "the basics." The original textbook on this subject (Health
Insurance Provided through Individual Policies) was published by the
Society in 1956. A revised edition was published in 1963 with Edwin
L. Bartleson as the principal contributor. That edition was further
revised and updated by Mr. Bartleson in 1968 after the Medicare
system became law in the United States. 231P.
