The Society of Actuaries sponsors professional interest groups, known as sections, which have been formed around common issues related to an area of practice or special interest. Members of the SOA and fellow industry professionals can join one or more sections, which encourage and facilitate career and personal development.
Section membership offers a range of participation levels–from simply keeping current with industry trends, to becoming a leader of a dedicated team.
Details on Section Membership:
Anyone can join any section of the SOA. For most sections, only SOA Members have voting privileges in section elections.
Anyone can join any section any time of the year. The easiest time to join is as part of the SOA Annual Dues Renewal. However, once you have paid in full, you can no longer use that method.
Section dues amounts vary per section and per year. Click here to view the dues schedule.
SOA membership dues are billed annually. As much as possible, section memberships follow the same schedule. If you join a section on October 1 or later, your membership is for the following year, but you will begin receiving member benefits immediately. If you join a section in September, your membership is for the current year.
You must have paid up status on your section membership in order to vote in that section's election.
