Volunteer
The Technology Section regularly seeks volunteers in three areas. These provide section members with opportunities to serve the section, and in turn, the Society of Actuaries. The three areas are:
- Contribute an article for our newsletter
CompAct is the Technology Section's electronic newsletter.
Its purpose is to share information within the section about technologies,
software, issues and other subjects of interest to the section. Authors do
not have to be experts in a field in order to contribute an article.
- Speak at an SOA meeting
The Technology Section has representation at each of the
SOA's three regular meetings. Volunteers are needed to speak on technology
topics of interest to actuaries or the industry. In addition, recorders or
moderators are needed to serve at each session.
- Serve on the Technology Section Council
The Technology Section Council consists of nine members,
each serving a three-year term. Every year, three new members are elected.
Council members oversee the activities of the section and coordinate
sessions at the three SOA meetings. The council usually meets once each
month in a conference call.
