This session discussed the experiences of three states where insurance companies engage in cooperative ventures with Medicare/Medicaid to establish a managed care environment for long term care. The goal is to maintain seniors longer in their homes and communities at a reduced cost.

1984-2007 Long-Term Care Intercompany Report
-
This is the sixth Intercompany Study of Long–Term Care Insurance. This report combines and analyzes data received from 35 insurers. Available data was collected on policies issued between January 1, 1984 and December 31, 2007. Claims incurred on policies during this same timeframe were followed from claim inception through the earlier of claim termination or June 30, 2008.

Long-Term Care Insurance Persistency Experience

Report on the second in a series of studies conducted jointly by LIMRA International and the SOA Long-Term Care Experience Committee. The study examines longterm care insurance LTCI industry persistency experience by reporting on changes in both voluntary lapse and total termination activity for all participating companies during calendar years 2002 through 2004. Overall, the results indicate that LTCI persistency continues to increase. However, recent increases have occurred on the group side of the business more than the individual side.

Long-Term Care Insurance Persistency Experience

Report on the first study conducted jointly by LIMRA International and the SOA Long Term Care Experience Committee. The study examines voluntary lapse and total termination activity in LTCI for calendar years 2000 and 2001. Overall, the results indicate that LTCI persistency has continued to improve however, the current improvement seems to be coming from the individual lines of business rather than the group lines.

This is the second Intercompany Study of Long–Term Care Insurance. For this report, the committee gathered and refined data that dates back to 1984. This report combines and analyzes data received from 14 insurers that agreed to provide information to further the knowledge of long–term care insurance.
