In Memory of Robert Braund

Robert (Bob) Gerald Braund, FSA, passed away on January 5, 2013 after an extended illness.

Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Braund was the son of the late Gerald Arthur and Katherine McDermid Braund. He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, having served during WWII. Braund graduated from the University of Western Ontario with honors in actuarial science, physics and math. He came to the United States in 1953 and became a U.S. citizen.

Eventually, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and became a partner at Bowles, Andrews and Towne, a consulting actuarial firm. He later retired as president of their United States life operations. Braund and his wife spent their latter years together on Amelia Island, Florida where he pursued his hobbies of golf and painting. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Braund is preceded in death by his brother, Ted; his eldest son, Gerald (Jerry); and a grandson, David Braund. He leaves behind his wife, Andrea; four children, Jim (Claudia), Janice Butler, Barbara Lucero and John Braund. Also grieving his loss are five grandchildren, Christopher “Chris” Braund (Nancy), Kimberly Williamson, Tom and Valerie Butler, Jordan Braund and four great grandchildren.
