2013 Deceased Member — Jerry L. Johnson
In Memory of Jerry L. Johnson
Jerry Johnson, devoted father, stepfather, grandfather, partner, and a 50-year member of the Society of Actuaries passed away on November 3, 2013 in Ocala, Florida. He was 79. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Sophia), grandchildren Evan and Marissa, his long-time life partner Lori Wrazin, and stepchildren Leah and Nicole Wrazin.
He was born in Fairfield, Iowa on August 14, 1934. Jerry’s father passed away when Jerry was 10 years old, and Jerry grew up doing odd jobs to help support his mother until going to college. He received his undergraduate degree from Parsons College, and his masters from University of Iowa. He became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1977.
Jerry’s hobbies included snow skiing, water skiing and travel. One of his favorite travel sites was the summit of Mount Sunapee in Newbury, New Hampshire, and near where he lived for many years before retiring to Florida.
He was very well known among his colleagues both in the southeast U.S., as well as out west in Utah. He had a no-nonsense attitude when dealing with his clients and colleagues, which was surpassed only by his sense of humor and quick wit. He was always available for a story, and always had something to teach.
