In Memory of Julie Ratsun
Julie Ratsun passed away on December 9, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 45. She leaves behind three children—Rachel, 16, Rebecca, 14, and Joshua Netson, 5. She is survived by her mother Stella Ratsun; sister and brother in law Olga and Vitaly Revsin; and niece and nephew Anna Fisher and Boris Revsin.
Julie was born in St. Petersburg, Russia on May 25, 1968 and from a very early age had a curious, sharp and analytical mind. She studied math and technology at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. She then continued her studies at Stony Brook University in New York, where she received her master's degree in mathematics.
In 2005 Julie became a fully licensed actuary. She was a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Julie worked as an actuary for major insurance companies, including Mercer and John Hancock. She was an incredible friend, fabulous cook and avid gardener. Julie spent many hours growing fruits and vegetables at the Sharon Community Gardens for her organic household.
Julie will be always remembered for her bright smile, quick mind and sharp sense of humor. Her untimely passing leaves a big gap in the hearts of her loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Julie's children's education fund.
