In Memory of Carolyn King

Carolyn King passed away on November 28, 2014 after a brief battle with esophageal cancer. She was 64. Carolyn was born on August 28, 1950 to Wilburn King and Joan King of Anderson, South Carolina.

She graduated in 1972 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and went on to become a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Carolyn's career began at Brooke and Company of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and continued at Provident Life and Accident Insurance where she held a senior leadership position. In 1995 she joined Protective Life Corporation as a Senior Vice President and retired from the company in 2013 after managing a major business line and leading numerous acquisition and corporate development opportunities. Carolyn's true passion, however, was evidenced throughout her life by her commitment of time, expertise and financial support to a number of causes and organizations, most notably those involving preservation of the natural environment, protection of wildlife, and advocacy on behalf of animals and those less fortunate than herself.

Carolyn is survived by her brother Stanley L. King and her sister-in-law Kelly King of Anderson, South Carolina and two nieces; Leigh Henninger of Anderson and Aimee McIntosh of Cave Creek, Arizona.
