Mr. Ramsey was a proud veteran of WW II. He served first as an Army cryptanalyst, and later as a meteorologist and air traffic controller for the Army Air Corps. He was honorably discharged at the rank of First Lieutenant.

Mr. Ramsey earned degrees from Iowa State University and the University of Michigan before starting work at Penn Mutual in 1950. He served as Controller, Chief Actuary, and finally Chief Financial Officer for Penn Mutual before his retirement in 1987. During his time at Penn Mutual, he mentored dozens of actuarial trainees, many of whom still serve as actuarial executives in insurance companies and actuarial consulting firms throughout the United States.

A native of Omaha Nebraska, Mr. Ramsey met his future wife, Dorothy Shields, at Iowa State. They lived in Springfield Township, Montgomery County for more than 50 years before moving in 2007 to Ann's Choice, a retirement community in Bucks County.

Mr. Ramsey was active in his community, having been elected to the township committee, and serving for many years as Lay Minister and Warden for Christ Church and St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Germantown, PA. He was involved with the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, as well as the Philadelphia Deanery and the Philadelphia Episcopal Church Club. He volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels in Chestnut Hill and Warminster. He was also a longtime member and avid golfer at Philadelphia Cricket Club. Mr. Ramsey and his wife wintered for over 20 years in St. Simons Island, Georgia, where he was a member and volunteer at Christ Church Frederica.

Mr. Ramsey was predeceased by his wife in 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Campbell [Joseph Campbell] of North Hills, PA, and sons Craig [Debra Booth Ramsey] of Seattle, WA, Matthew [Cindy Efird Ramsey] of Spring City, PA and Henry III [Judith Cody Ramsey] of Holmdel, NJ, as well as 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ramsey was known for his quick wit, analytical insights and ready storytelling. He was ringleader and scorekeeper for several golf groups in PA and GA. Most importantly, he and his wife knew how to throw a good party. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
