Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) Grants

Colleges and universities that have attained CAE status are eligible to compete for SOA-sponsored grants. These grants would allow universities to make significant investments in their programs, research and the profession. The SOA awards grants in two areas: education and research. Award amounts and durations can range between $25,000 and $100,000 per annum over a period of one to three years. Applications for multi- and single-year grants will be accepted.

Grant Types:

Education

The SOA may offer a preferred education topic for a particular application year. When a preferred research topic is offered, participants must submit a proposal on that topic. Preferred topics will support the SOA’s prequalification and/or continuing education initiatives. Original proposals in other topic areas will not be considered.

Research

The SOA may offer a preferred research topic for a particular application year. When a preferred research topic is offered, participants may submit a proposal on that topic or on a topic of their choosing. Preference will be given to the suggested topic; however, original proposals in other topic areas will be considered. Regardless of whether a suggested research topic is offered, applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that demonstrate benefits to the actuarial profession.
