Experience Studies – Long–Term Care

This is the second Intercompany Study of Long–Term Care Insurance. For this report, the committee gathered and refined data that dates back to 1984. This report combines and analyzes data received from 14 insurers that agreed to provide information to further the knowledge of long–term care insurance. Those insurers are listed in Appendix A of the report. It is estimated that the data included in this study represents 60% of the in–force long–term care insurance premium in 1993. Available data was collected on policies issued between January 1, 1984 and December 31, 1993. Claims incurred on policies in force during this time were followed from claim inception through the earlier of claim termination, or June 30, 1994.
