Competency (Learn more)
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has dedicated staff to support the State Departments of Insurance with ORSA reviews. The NAIC has designed, and are running, the training for the departments. They have also developed the tools and procedures for examiners and analysts of the departments to use in their reviews. Currently, the NAIC has reviewed nearly 100 ORSA summary reports, including a number of reports from the health industry.
The main objectives of this presentation are:
- To explain the current status of NAIC ORSA initiatives and the first year's reviews by the State Departments of Insurance (DOI);
- To describe the latest NAIC observations for each of the three sections of ORSA based on actual reviews, with a particular focus on health insurers;
- To identify some of the key questions regulators are likely to ask health insurers during their reviews; and
- To give attendees the opportunity to ask questions of the NAIC staff.
