Is there a voice inside your mind that sometimes tells you that you're not good enough? It might also give you other negative messages like, "That idea is stupid." "Don't say that because people will think you're an idiot." "Who are you to think you can do that?" "What if you embarrass yourself?" "What if nobody likes it?" Pam Victor calls that voice the Evil Mind Meanie-her internal voice is named "Calvin"-and it's the internal voice of unhelpful judgment. Calvin-or whatever name you call your Evil Mind Meanie-is constantly in our heads, telling us that we're doing it wrong...or you're doing it wrong...or they're all doing it wrong...and a whole buffet full of other negative messages that get in our way and keep us from tapping into our most creative selves. It keeps us from progressing joyfully and "easefully" in our school and personal lives. During this interactive talk experience, professional improv comedian, author and teacher Pam Victor teaches how to identify Calvin's voice, how to thank it for trying to protect us, and provides five helpful ways to get Calvin to please shut up. Because the most important thing to remember is that Calvin is a 100 percent liar, liar pants-on-fire. Those unhelpful judgments Calvin tells us are beliefs, not facts.

So ask yourself this: "How much better would your life be if you stopped listening to Calvin?"

Pam Victor is the founder and Head of Happiness of Happier Valley Comedy. As well as being a professional improviser, Pam is a consultant who uses improvisation exercises to facilitate powerful personal and professional growth in the THROUGH LAUGHTER program. Pam is the author of Baj and the Word Launcher: A Space-Aged Asperger Adventure in Communication and, along with legendary improvisers TJ Jagodowski and Dave Pasquesi, co-author of Improvisation at the Speed of Life: The TJ & Dave Book. This event is open to all meeting attendees. There is a nonrefundable fee of $25 per person for Actuary of the Future Section, Entrepreneurial and Innovation Section and Technology Section members and $40 for all others. Please include the additional fee with your registration.
