Mike Lombardi, FSA, CERA, FCIA, MAAA
Society of Actuaries

Mike Lombardi is president of MLBC, an actuarial consulting firm providing insurance companies with advice on business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, reinsurance, and corporate actuarial challenges. Lombardi has served as senior vice president and chief actuary at Prudential Assurance Company, managing principal of the Willis Towers Watson (Tillinghast) Canadian Life and Property Casualty insurance consulting practice and executive vice president at RGA.

Lombardi is SOA President-Elect and will take office as SOA President in October 2017. He previously served as an SOA vice-president, working with the SOA Board of Directors. Lombardi was president of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), and past chair of the CIA International Relations Committee.

Songcheng Sheng
Former Head of Statistics and Survey Department
The People’s Bank of China

Songcheng Sheng is a professor, assistant and doctoral supervisor, who is granted a Special Allowance from the State Council. He is now Councilor of The People's Bank of China (Leading roles of departments or equivalents), Director of Statistical Analysis Professional Committee from National Internet Finance Association of China, Professor of China Europe International Business School, and Ex-Director of Department of Investigation and Statistics of The People's Bank of China. For many years, he has successively published more than 100 professional articles on leading journals, such as Social Sciences in China, Economic Research Journal, Journal of Financial Research, China Finance. He has also published plenty of writings. In recent years, he proposes the theory of coordinately advancing the reform of interest & exchange rate and the opening of capital account. He has also made contributions to researching, compiling and promoting the index of social funding limitation.

Dr. Yulong Zhao, HFIA

Dr. Zhao Yulong is the Director General of Finance & Accounting / Solvency Regulation Dept. of China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC). He has more than 17 years of experience in insurance regulation and supervision and is mainly responsible for the solvency, accounting, capital instrument and taxation issues of the insurance industry. He is not only the key personnel of the first generation of China’s solvency regime over the last decade, but also the leading architect of the second generation of China’s solvency system (C-ROSS).

Dr. Zhao was a qualified bridge designer before he received his Ph.D degree in Accounting from Shanghai University of Finance & Economics. He also holds an EMBA degree from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). He is the first honorable fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) of UK from mainland China, and also one of the founding members of the China Actuary Association. Dr. Zhao is a member of China Financial Accounting Standard Consulting board of Ministry of Finance, Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountant and Chinese Taxation Institute.

Dr. Zhao is also an adjunct professor of Peking University and several well known universities in China. He serves as an anonymous referee for two top academic journals in China.

Jackson Chen, FSA

Jackson is responsible for Actuarial Department. He conducts the product development, actuarial evaluation and reinsurance functions,including product design and pricing, reserve valuation, experience analysis, capital management, reinsurance management, etc.

Jackson was in charge of Model Management Section in CPIC Group Actuarial Dept. As PMO, successfully led CPIC Prophet Conversion project and established Prophet actuarial platform. Carry out the solution design and model implementation for complex actuarial work, such as reserve movement, source of earning analysis, C-ROSS EV, EV movement, etc.

Before joining CPIC, Jackson worked in Sino-US United MetLife Insurance. He led Corporate Actuarial team to perform corporate financial analysis (e.g. business planning, projection, EV, experience analysis) and also has rich experience on product development and Agency compensation. Prior to this, he served as a counselor in Fudan University to provide guidelines for students’ campus lives.

Xiaodong Yu, FSA

Fosun Group

Mr. YU joined Fosun Group in August 2016 as General Manager of Risk Management Department and Chief Risk Officer of Insurance Group. He also serves as non-executive director of Peak Reinsurance Company Limited in Hong Kong and Portugal’s largest insurer Fidelidade – Companhia de Seguros, S.A.

Before joining Fosun, Mr. Yu has been a senior executive in China Taping Insurance Group’s Hong Kong headquarters for nearly 15 years. He took a leading role in establishing from scratch and implementing the Group’s management system in corporate planning, actuarial and risk management. He led the projects of Group risk appetite system and the implementation of C-Ross within Taiping Group. He also concurrently acted as Appointed Actuary of China Taiping Life Insurance (Hong Kong) and Taiping Reinsurance, Chief Actuary of Taiping Pension, and served as director or supervisor on the boards of various core insurance subsidiaries of Taiping Group. Mr. Yu started actuarial career in the Actuarial Dept. of AIA China’s home office in Shanghai, focusing on product development, pricing and experience analysis.

Mr. Yu received a master’s degree in applied mathematics and a bachelor’s degree in control science from Fudan University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA, 2003), Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong, executive council member, founding member and Fellow of China Association of Actuaries (FCAA). He is also a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Chua Tuan Miang, MEc, FIAA

Gen Re Life/Health Asia

Tuan, Regional General Manager of Gen Re Life/Health Asia, oversees Gen Re Life/Health’s business in a region consisting of ASEAN, China, Hong Kong and India. Tuan has nearly 22 years of experience in life insurance and reinsurance industry. Tuan joined Gen Re in 2001 in its Shanghai office. He builds up Gen Re Life/Health franchise in China and Hong Kong where he works with many insurance companies to develop various protection and health insurance products. Prior to that, he gained his rich management, product and actuarial experience in countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Tuan is a Fellow of the Institute

Flora Shao, MEc, FIA

Flora is the Chief Pricing Actuary of Gen Re Life/Health China. She is responsible for the pricing and product research/development for Life/Health business, providing actuarial advice and technical support for Gen Re's clients in China. Before joining Gen Re, Flora worked for a direct life insurance company and a consulting firm on product pricing, actuarial valuation, strategic planning and merger/acquisition projects.

Flora holds a Master’s degree in Economics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA).

Henry Hu, FSA, FCAA

Mr. Hu is the Chief Actuary of Aviva-Cofco Life Insurance. He gained abundant experience in product development and actuarial practice. Mr. Hu is the fellow member of Society of Actuaries and China Association of Actuaries.

Wenli Su
Assistant President
Sunshine Insurance Group

Mr. Su Wenli joined Sunshine Insurance Group in 2012, currently serving as the Assistant President of Sunshine Insurance Group. Mr. Su was in charge of the Internet Center, Operating Center, IT Center, Big Data Center and the “Future Center”. Mr. Su led various internal projects in Sunshine Insurance Group, such as: 1\ building the Internet insurance portal based on E-commerce model and realizing the centralization of the operation sharing. 2\ leading the IT Center Division reform. 3\ leading the Big Data strategy implementation project. 4\ developing products, such as credit rewarding system, insurance cards, etc., based on the block chain technology. Prior to 2012, Mr. Su worked as the Deputy General Manager of Science and Technology Department at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. The projects he led were awarded the third prize of Scientific and Technological Progress at national level and the first prizes of Scientific and Technological Progress at the provincial and ministerial level. In 2000, Mr. Su received the special government allowance award from the State Council.

Mr. Yao has been an Executive Director of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China since June 2009, and is the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary of the Company. He is responsible for the group’s strategy development, corporate planning and financial reporting. Prior to his current role, he had also served as the Senior Vice President and various senior management positions within Ping An since he joined the company in 2001. Prior to that, he was a senior manager and consulting actuary at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Hong Kong. Mr. Yao is a Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) and holds an MBA degree from New York University. 

Qu Liu, FSA

Liu Qu, fellow of both CAA and SOA. His current position includes Assistant President and Chief Actuary of Taikang Insurance Group Inc., and Assistant President and Chief Actuary of Taikang Life Insurance Co., Ltd., and the deputy secretary-general of China Association of Actuaries (CAA).

During his 18 years of career in actuarial fields and cooperate management, Mr. Liu Qu has accumulated extensive experience in insurance and actuarial work.

XiuJuan Chen, FCAA, EMBA

Ms. Chen Xiujuan is the chief actuary of China Pacific Life Insurance Company. She graduated from Hunan Finance and Economics College in actuarial science with a bachelor’s degree, Fudan University in business management with a master degree, and China Europe International Business School with an EMBA. Ms. Chen is a fellow of China Association of Actuaries, and serves as executive director of the association at the same time. She has comprehensive actuarial theory knowledge, extensive practical experience in pricing and valuation as a result of over 20 years actuarial experience in life insurance industry. Ms. Chen joined China Pacific Life Insurance Company in 1995 and subsequently served as deputy general manager, general manager of Acturial Department, and chief actuary of the company. She has gained rich and excellent experience in leadership and management.

Genghui Wu, FSA, CFA, FRM

Genghui Wu is a Group Vice President with overall responsibilities for Prudential’s global Actuarial and Finance Audits. Prior to this role, Mr. Wu served as Investment Senior Vice President at Prudential Global Portfolio Management.  

Mr. Wu also held various senior positions within Prudential, including Vice President of Prudential Global Strategies, and Vice President & Actuary at Prudential Corporate Actuarial.

Mr. Wu is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Fellow of Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and a Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

Mr. Wu had served on the Board of the Society of Actuaries and an active participant of various initiatives, and was the Chairman of SOA International Committee in 2016.

Lingling Wang, FSA, CERA, MAAA

Ping An Group

Ms. Wang has been the Deputy Chief Actuary of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China since 2014. She has the responsibility of coordinating and supervising actuarial functions for the entire group. She is actively involved in the rule setting stage of IAIS international capital standard with the goal for appropriate consideration for China insurance industry.

Ms. Wang joined Ping An Life Insurance Company served as the Deputy General Manager in 2012. Prior to joining Ping An, she served as VP and Chief Actuary of Taikang Life Insurance Company in Beijing and the Chief Actuary of Sino-Life Insurance in Shanghai successively.  Before coming to China, she held various actuarial titles at Principal Financial Group in U.S. With more than 28 years of experience in various actuarial disciplines, she is knowledgeable about China and US life insurance markets.  

Ms. Wang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from National Cheng-chi University in Taiwan and a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science from University of Iowa in the United States. She was recognized for outstanding scholarship at both institutions. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) and a Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She currently serves as a Council Member for China Association of Actuaries.


Shu-yen Liu, FSA, MAAA

Shu- Yen has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry in the US, Europe and Asia. Shu-Yen has extensive experience and knowledge in the financial reporting areas including Embedded Value, US GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II, C-ROSS, RBC and local statutory bases. In addition, she has worked on product pricing, hedging strategies and reinsurance arrangements for variable annuities with living benefit options, enterprise risk management and Economic Capital, ALM implementation, M&A activities, internal and external audit work coordination and resolutions, special strategic projects such as new market entry, and training for local actuarial and finance teams. She has worked with multinational insurance companies, investment banks and fund managers and cross border projects throughout her consulting career. Her knowledge has provided many clients in working with multiple functional teams to identify areas for improvements and finding alternatives and solutions.

She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA), Hong Kong Actuarial Society and Thailand Society of Actuaries.  

Sharon Huang, FSA, FCAA, FLMI
Director and Consulting Actuary

Sharon is Director & Consulting actuary at Milliman’s Beijing office. She joined the firm in 2011.

In her current role, she manages various projects and provides support to local and multinational insurance companies in the areas of actuarial due diligence, product design, pricing and financial reporting.

Prior to joining Milliman, Sharon worked at the largest life reinsurer in China for six and half years where she gained experience in reinsurance, product development, market research, alternative distribution channel management and market entry strategy.

She has worked with life insurers in China on projects pertaining to:

Ling Guan, FSA,FCAA

Ling Guan joined Funde Insurance Holding Co., Ltd and was proposed to be the deputy General Manager and Chief Financial Officer in 2016.He worked in China Insurance Regulatory Commis-sion for a long time. He once was the director of Supervision Section II, Finance and Accounting Department (Solvency Supervision Department),and directly participated in the whole process of establishment of China Risk Oriented Solvency System (C-ROSS), including but not limited to the planning, framework and standard of C-ROSS.

He graduated in MSc in Financial Mathematics of Faculty of Mathematics, Peking University in 2000. He gained FSA in 2003 and FCAA in 2005. In 2014, he was referred as IAA Regulatory Commis-sion Member by China Actuarial Association.

Zhikang Yan, FSA, FCAA

Mr. Yan Zhikang is the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Actuary of the Taiping Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (TPL)

Mr. Yan graduated from the Math Department of Fudan University. He attained Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the China Association of Actuaries.

Mr. Yan was a member of the board of supervisors of TPL, and worked in joint-venture insurance companies such as Manulife-Sinochem before he joined TPL.

Xu Zeng, FSA, FCAA

Mr. Zeng now serves as Chief Actuary and General Manager of actuarial dept. in CCB life Co. Main responsibilities include: product pricing and development, marketing strategy and business planning, actuarial valuation and management, capital management and ALM under C-ROSS. Before joining CCB life, Mr. Zeng worked in product and actuarial function in several join-venture companies in mainland China. He has years’ experience in product development/management, actuarial management and operation.

Mr. Zeng graduated from Nankai University with Master’s Degree in 2000. He is the Fellow of Society of Actuary and the member of CAA.
