Candidate Connect is an event tailored for actuarial candidates pursuing the ASA designation (students, career changers, job seekers, and entry-level actuaries), and provides opportunities for candidates to connect with the actuarial community—SOA members, fellow candidates, local actuarial clubs and employer representatives. 

We are seeking presenters to host a 60-minute afternoon break-out session at the upcoming SOA Candidate Connect event, Friday, November 9, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois.


Session Guidelines

Each break-out session is meant to share insights from the industry, and equip candidates with the knowledge needed to launch and sustain a rewarding and successful actuarial career.


Session topics identified include, but are not limited to:

  • Industry growth trends
  • Job-seeking, interview, communication and leadership skills for both self-study candidates and actuarial science students
  • Predictive analytics
  • New methodology, modelling and/or processes
  • Overview of actuarial employment market and hiring insights from recruiters and employers


The format of sessions includes but not limited to:

  • Classic presentation
  • Panel discussion

Each session room will be equipped with a podium, audio visual components to specification, and wifi.
