Cheryl Liu is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, currently a risk management senior manager at FWD Life Insurance Company in Hong Kong. She has over 14 years of experience spanning valuation, pricing, ALM and risk management. Prior joining FWD in HK in early 2015, she was responsible for the capital market hedging program with Pacific Life and Lincoln Financial Group in the US.
Cheryl is the editor of Risk Management Newsletter since 2014 and prior JRMS council member. She is also a CFA Charterholder.
David Wang, FSA,
David Wang, FSA, FIA, MAAA, is a principal in the Seattle life practice of Milliman. Wang co-leads a Milliman team specializing in applying predictive analytics to assist the life and annuity industry in the United States. The team provides cutting edge advice to clients in modeling policyholder behavior and using data analytics for marketing and distribution purposes. He also worked extensively on various annuity projects including pricing, capital assessment and financial reporting. Wang published numerous papers and articles on annuity and policyholder behavior topics and is an active speaker at SOA events.
Eileen Burns, FSA, MAAA
Eileen Burns, FSA, MAAA, is a principal in the Seattle Life insurance consulting practice of Milliman, and is associated with a cross-practice center of excellence in predictive analytics. She managed several studies at both industry and company scope using predictive analytics to analyze policyholder behavior, and is now the product manager for Recon, an interactive web application for data analytics. Burns is a frequent speaker at industry meetings and is the vice-chair of the SOA’s Predictive Analytics and Futurism section.

James Lin is a senior manager, Insurance Analytics and non-traditional actuarial advisory for Ernst & Young based in Hong Kong. He joined the financial services and the actuarial profession in the 2007 and has been involved in various analytics roles with banks and insurance companies. This includes distribution, auto-underwriting, customer strategy and payment analytics. Lin graduated with a first-class honors degree in actuarial studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia, qualified actuary and experienced SAS user.
Janice Wang, ASA, CERA
Janice Wang, ASA, CERA, is an actuarial associate with Milliman's life insurance consulting practice in Hong Kong. She worked on a wide range of insurance and actuarial areas in Asia including appraisal valuation for mergers and acquisitions, solvency and economic capital and Enterprise Risk Management. Before joining Milliman’s life practice, Wang gained exposure to the general insurance field as well as the liquidity risk management for banking industry. She is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst and holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Hong Kong.

Jingyi Zhang, Ph.D, is data scientist at Global Research & Data Analytics of RGA. Zhang has ten years of experience in predictive modeling and data analytics. Prior to RGA, he was an analytics manager with IMS Health, where he took ownership of an analytics team with the aim to provide clients insightful data-driven consulting in pharmaceutical and health care markets, including primary market research, customer segmentation and pricing strategy. He was with eBay and Opera Solutions, where gained experience in predictive modeling/scoring and strategy formulation for customer financial risk management. Zhang received his undergraduate degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China and Ph.D from Newcastle University, U.K. He was also a research associate for Lancaster University, U.K.

Marc Sofer, FFA, FIAA, MBA, is head of data and strategic analytics - Asian markets for RGA Reinsurance Company, based in Hong Kong. In his role, he is responsible for leading and executing RGA’s regional data and analytics strategy aimed at creating, commercializing and extracting maximum value from data driven initiatives.
Sofer has a wealth of actuarial, risk management and business development experience. He has held both local and regional level pricing and business development roles since joining RGA in Australia in 2010. Sofer most recently served as head of Malaysia and Indonesia markets, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Before joining RGA, he was with Swiss Re Australia, where he was a marketing actuary in life and health client markets. Prior to that, he was with MBF Australia (now part of Bupa Australia Health Pty Ltd.), where he participated in both actuarial and business development work. Sofer also worked for Discovery Health South Africa.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science and statistics from Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa, and he also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, Ivey Business School. Sofer is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries (FFA) and of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA).

Travis Short, FSA, is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and leads data innovation for Pacific Life Re globally, recently shifting roles from managing R&D for Asia markets. His responsibilities include experience analysis, best estimate assumptions and capital assumptions development. Short joined Pacific Life Re in early 2016 and has over a decade of life reinsurance experience spanning valuation and ALM, experience analysis, pricing R&D and underwriting research across North America and Asia markets.

Marisa Li is a Senior Actuarial consultant in Ernst & Young Financial Services Advisory, based in Hong Kong. She specializes on Insurance data science, with 4-year insurance analytics experience in insurance company and Fin-tech company. Prior to this, she worked in 4A agency in web analytics for 2 years. Focus on applying data analytics & modelling into different functions along the insurance value chain. She has degree in both Risk Management and Actuarial Science.
Questor Ng, FSA

Questor Ng, FSA, is FWD’s Chief Risk Officer of Hong Kong and Macau. He is responsible for financial risk and non-financial risk management.
As a second line of defense, he provides an independent appraisal on strategic risk, capital risk, investment risk, insurance risk and operational risk of the company. He also supports the CEO to make sound business decisions, and the board in its risk management duties.
Ng has 26 years of experience in life insurance. He is based in Hong Kong and Singapore, primarily focusing on the Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan markets. Ng previously held several senior executive roles, including chief actuary for Singapore’s largest insurance company, a director for third line of defense of an international insurance company’s Asia Pacific Regional business and a chief financial officer of a composite insurance company in Hong Kong.
He is a fellow member of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and a financial risk manager of Global Association of Risk Professionals (FRM).
Raymond Tam, FSA
Executive Director, Policy and Development
Raymond Tam, FSA, joined the Insurance Authority in June 2017 as executive director, policy and development. He heads policy and development including Risk Based Capital, Policy Holders’ Protection Scheme and InsurTech. Tam started with Sun Life in 1979 and other life insurers in Canada and the United States. He came back in 1988 as actuarial consultant with Mercer, John Hancock and Towers Watson. In 1992, he joined the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, responsible for prudential supervision of life insurers. As assistant commissioner of insurance, Tam designed and implemented Solvency I in 1995 and advised the government on pension matters as the government actuary. In 1996, he became assistant director of MPF Office to lead the design of regulations for MPF schemes, trustees and investments. In 1998, Tam became executive director of MPFA, built up the supervisory team and approved MPF schemes, trustees, investment funds and intermediaries for launch of MPF system in 2000. He joined the private sector in 2002, in charge of actuarial and risk management of a new life JV in Shanghai and handled investor relation for the Chinese partner. Tam was the first “Actuary of the Year” in China in 2012. He relocated back to Hong Kong in 2014 as regional chief risk officer for Asia.

Trinity Pong, FSA, CERA, is vice president, markets for Peak Reinsurance Company Limited, mainly focusing on Australia, China and Japan markets. She joined Peak Re initially as part of the analytics team responsible for treaty pricing, reinsurance structuring, capital modelling reserving and cat modelling. She was previously with Willis Re and Tower’s Watson.
Pong is a council member of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and the chairperson of the Non-Life committee. She served as a volunteer in the Greater Asia Committee for the Society of Actuaries (SOA).
Pong received her degree in actuarial science from the University of Hong Kong. She is a Fellow (FSA) of the SOA and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA).
