Kitty Ching, FSA

Kitty Ching currently is working as the president at Taiwan Insurance Institute, a think tank for the regulators and a platform between industry and regulators. Before her current role at Taiwan Insurance Institute, she was responsible for Investors Relations at Cathay Financial Holdings and CRO at Cathay Life. Kitty has over 20 years of experience in life insurance of which 8 years in US and the rest in Taiwan.
Before joining Taiwan Insurance Institute, Kitty has worked with a number of insurers such as AEGON, MetLife, CIGNA, ING, Fubon and Cathay Life on functions such as product development, financial reporting, performance measurement, risk management, capital management as well as investors relations.
Kitty has played a leading role in developing local actuarial talents by the establishment of Actuarial Academy at ING Taiwan, Fubon Life and Cathay Life. She is also a frequent speaker at universities and actuarial seminars across Asia. Kitty has also played a crucial role in the establishment of Enterprise Risk Management Practice Guideline for insurance industry in Taiwan and currently is a committee member of Actuarial Institute of Chinese Taipei’s Education Committee. She holds a Master degree in Actuarial Science from University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa of USA.

Vincent Chin is a senior manager of Nan Shan Life Insurance Company in Taiwan. He has over 15 years of experience spanning pricing, reinsurance, enterprise risk management, ALM and economic capital with top insurers in Taiwan. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of Actuarial Institute of Chinese Taipei, Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst, FRM and holds a master’s degree in risk management and insurance from Georgia State University of US.
Alfred Ma, ASA, CFA, Ph.D

Dr. Alfred Ma, ASA, CFA, Ph.D, joined the CASH Algo Finance Group in 2013. He is responsible for Algo’s trading development. Dr. Ma has extensive experience in the field of financial engineering. He holds a Ph.D in operations research, specializing in financial engineering from Columbia University, a Master of Philosophy in mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Ma has done extensive research in quantitative finance. Many of his research papers were published in journals such as Journal of Computational Finance, the Journal of Asset Management and the Journal of Trading. He has strong collaborative connections with academia including CUHK, HKU, HKUST and Columbia University.
James Lin, FIAA

James is a senior manager, Insurance Analytics and non-traditional actuarial advisory for Ernst & Young based in Hong Kong. He joined the financial services and the actuarial profession in the 2007 and has been involved in various analytics roles with banks and insurance companies. This includes distribution, auto-underwriting, customer strategy and payment analytics. Lin graduated with a first-class honors degree in actuarial studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia, qualified actuary and experienced SAS user.

Marco Hoogendijk joined Ortec Finance in 2017 as the managing director for Asia, in charge of overseeing business development and regional expansion. He has over 20 years of investment banking and management experience with multinational firms in both Asia and Europe.
Prior to joining Ortec Finance, Hoogendijk spent most of his career within the investment banking divisions of ABN Amro, BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse. The last 15 years he spent in Asia’s financial markets he worked closely with insurance companies and pension funds understanding their Investment & Hedging intricacies. He focused on structuring viable and suitable investment strategies, complementing their existing portfolios driven by regulatory and economic boundary conditions.
Hoogendijk earned his master’s degree in chemical engineering, University of Technology Delft, Netherlands. He is also a CFA and CAIA charter holder.
Janice Wang, ASA, CERA is an actuarial associate with Milliman's life insurance consulting practice in Hong Kong. She worked on a wide range of insurance and actuarial areas in Asia including appraisal valuation for mergers and acquisitions, solvency and economic capital and Enterprise Risk Management. Before joining Milliman’s life practice, Wang gained some exposure to the general insurance field as well as the liquidity risk management for banking industry. She is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst and holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Hong Kong.
Richard Liao, ASA
Richard Liao, ASA, is a consultant at Milliman, focusing on valuation, embedded value, appraisal value, RBC, C-ROSS, appointed actuary report, and ALM modeling work over the region, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Indonesia. His specialty is to implement experience studies and assumptions making of relevant works. Liao is in the development team of predictive analytics in the region to contribute the point of view from life actuarial practice.
Stanley Hsieh’s experience includes using machine learning models for predicting lapse rates of insurance policies and reviewing huge datasets for data cleaning before building models. He has experience in quantitative research of diabetes study by using statistical methods such as principal component analysis, k-nearest neighbors, decision tress and logistic regression. He also has experience in time series analysis of stock index and option pricing modelling for research.
Yi-Ling Lin, FSA, MAAA, FCA

Yi-Ling Lin, FSA, FCA, MAAA, is a health care actuary and financial strategist with almost 20 years of experience. Lin has been involved in the development of sophisticated analytics and modeling capabilities that support organizations in navigating the new health care environments. Additionally, she has over 15 years of experience working with large, complex employers requiring services ranging from strategic planning and pricing to data reporting to actuarial certifications such as IBNR valuations. She has worked for insurance companies, large national consulting firms and small boutique specialty firms.
Yun-Tien Lee, FSA
Yun-Tien Lee, FSA, has over 12 years of actuarial experience with a strong background in computer science, mathematics, predictive analytics and financial risk. He joined Milliman in 2018 to focus on advanced actuarial models and predictive analytics applications.
Before joining Milliman, he took various positions from local and multinational insurers in Taiwan, the UK and Hong Kong. Prior to Milliman, he was with Gen Re for two years in Taipei as an account manager, focusing on new medical products development and predictive analytics. Previously, Lee worked for Chubb Group for eight years in Hong Kong and Taipei, as a regional actuarial manager. His responsibilities included building and maintaining actuarial models for the business units in Asia, reviewing new products and business plans across business units and leading the actuarial valuation function. Lee was involved in pricing one of the first VA guarantee products in Asia for Chubb’s Taiwan business in early 2000s. Previously, he was with Aon Benfield, based in London, for a year and a half as a risk software manager, focusing on building in-house software for capital optimization under Solvency II.
