The session will look to define the “Product Tax Compliance Risks” associated with the administration of life insurance, annuity, and long term care products. Panelists from leading insurance companies will discuss practical, real-life situations that they encountered and strategies they have used for risk mitigation. Discussion topics will include:

  • Defining risks associated with business functions supporting product tax compliance and information reporting (i.e., IRC Chapters 3 and 4),
  • Identifying various functions of the business life-cycle affected by IRC Sections 72, 101, 817(h), 7702, 7702A, or 7702B,
  • Helping to think through an operational risk management program concepts, and
  • Determining how these risk management programs are affected by the impact of on-going regulatory change on products, (e.g., tax reform, 2017 CSO mortality tables, etc.).
