The CIA, CAS Institute (iCAS) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) are joining forces once again to launch the Predictive Analytics Hack-A-Thon!
The Hack-A-Thon will be held in conjunction with the joint Predictive Analytics Seminar (held April 27, 2023), with the competition taking place on the Kaggle platform online during the weekend of March 24-26, 2023.
Curious about the type of problem you’ll need to solve? Check out the details of last year’s beginner and advanced competitions.
Competitors can:
- Take on the competition on their own or as a part of a group (with a maximum of five participants per group).
- Choose their own team or have team members randomly selected.
- Pick between competing in the advanced or beginner categories. Both levels will be held on the same platform.
The person or team with the best prediction will win the competition.
All competitors will be invited to join a special session during the Predictive Analytics Seminar to find out how the winner(s) of each level arrived at their prediction and to connect with fellow participants.
The winner(s) of the competition will receive:
- A complimentary registration to the Predictive Analytics Seminar.
- The opportunity to be a featured speaker during one of the seminar’s sessions on April 27.
- An honorable mention in each organization’s online news (advanced category only).
All competitors must be a member of at least one of the hosting organizations (iCAS, CAS, SOA, or CIA/CIAnet subscriber) and pay the entry fee to participate and win prizes.
The Hack-A-Thon’s entry fee is $40 per person. This fee can be applied as a credit toward the registration fee for the Predictive Analytics Seminar ($350). Competitors can also earn CPD credits through this event!
