Presenters will discuss current methods used in the health industry to determine the credibility of historical claim data. The results of the industry study for the credibility of group long-term disability data will be presented and discussed. This study explores the predictive power of historical disability claim data, and sheds light on some of the variables that affect credibility. The presenters will illustrate the non-parametric method to determine the amount of credibility to be applied to a group’s experience and the group could be a geographic area or an employer group. The method illustrated in this presentation will allow the credibility assumption to vary by stop-loss provisions. This presentation will provide examples of the non-parametric model to determine the credibility of a given size group.
