As actuaries, we’ve been educated on essential technical concepts in order to transcend a rigorous exam process. However, most of us haven’t been taught how to effectively cultivate our professional network. To be successful in today’s world, we must learn how to develop behaviors to enhance how we optimally relate to others – individuals within our functional departments, across our organizations, throughout the industry and beyond.
This session will consist of two chapters:
(1) a panel discussion on key elements of building meaningful and lasting relationships – specifically, authentic communication, transparency, and trust and
(2) an interactive session, where you’ll have limited pre-work in advance in order to be prepared to actively participate in a collaborative session regarding relationship building – specifically, how to “make friends” in the business world.
Participate in this session and you’ll be able to:
• Cultivate your professional network to create new working relationships• Develop techniques to maintain existing relationships• Identify and employ behaviors that support continued relationship building.
