Climate data is everywhere. Accessible climate data for actuarial modeling, not so much. There has been a wide variety of climatic data available for insight into performing risk quantification tasks associated with actuarial work, but for every practice area there are significant issues with finding this data as well as using this data efficiently. The American Academy of Actuaries recently published a survey of actuarial data problems regarding climatic data and effective risk quantification. This session will look at available climatic data through the lens of differing practice areas and consider options for consolidating and improving data in the future.
