The presenters will explain the process for setting pension standards of practice in the United States and Canada based on requirements of the actuarial standard setting bodies in each country. Through participating in this webcast, attendees will be able to compare & contrast the approaches used in each country. The presenters will also highlight recent updates and proposed pension standards being prepared in each country including what specific issue they are addressing, and the changes practitioners may need to consider when implementing the new standards.

Faisal Siddiqi, FSA, EA, MAAA, is an associate partner with EY in Toronto, Canada and has over 25 years of experience in the pension industry. He advises clients on pension funding, accounting and governance. Siddiqi is currently the chair of the Standards and Guidance Council of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA). He has presented at many CIA and Society of Actuaries (SOA) meetings and is a long-time volunteer for both organizations.
