In this webcast, we will first examine the latest research on typhoons and tropical cyclones, which impact many Asia-Pacific regions. The research is based on data collected along the China coast and explores how climate drivers, including the El NiƱo-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and long-term climate trends, influence typhoon activity. The session will also evaluate the limitations of traditional catastrophe modeling approaches and discuss how artificial intelligence can help address these gaps from a reinsurance perspective. The presentation will also explore secondary perils, which have played an increasingly important role in global catastrophe losses. Participants will gain insights into how catastrophe models are currently used to assess secondary peril risks, the importance of proactive risk management, and potential approaches for managing these emerging risks more effectively.
