International reinsurance has grown significantly in recent years as U.S. insurers seek new ways to improve competitiveness, manage risk, access capital, and align reinsurance structures with internal business management practices. While initially driven largely by private equity-backed participants, international reinsurance is now used by a broader range of insurers and reinsurers seeking pricing flexibility, capital efficiency, and reserving frameworks that better align with economic risk management.
This 90-minute webcast will provide a practical, market-oriented overview of international reinsurance and the key considerations involved in evaluating these arrangements. Panelists will discuss why international reinsurance has become more prominent, how it is being used in the market, and what companies should consider when assessing potential jurisdictions. The discussion will explore how international reinsurance may support competitiveness, risk management, balance sheet strategy, and access to capital. This webcast will also address jurisdictional differences, including reserving and capital frameworks, as well as governance, regulatory, and risk considerations that should be evaluated before entering into an arrangement.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the international reinsurance landscape, the motivations behind its growth, and the practical questions actuaries and other insurance professionals should consider when evaluating international reinsurance solutions. The session will be grounded in recent research on international reinsurance and the jurisdictions that U.S. insurers may consider when establishing these arrangements.
