The Society of Actuaries (SOA) announces the results of the 2026 Board of Directors Elections. Five Board members and one President Elect and Vice Chair have been elected to serve starting with the 2026–2027 term. Thank you to all SOA members who voted in the 2026 election.

Sherry Chan, FSA, EA, MAAA, FCA
The SOA announces Sherry Chan, FSA, EA, MAAA, FCA, will serve as the 2026-2027 President Elect and Vice Chair. Chan will become the 79th President and Chair at the 2027 ImpACT Annual Conference.
Chan advises organizations around the world as Managing Director in EY’s Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services practice. She also served as Chief Actuary for New York City and Ohio’s largest public pension systems. Chan has spent three years as a member of the SOA Board of Directors, mentored future actuaries, co-founded Abacus Actuaries and supported actuarial education. In addition to being an SOA Board member, Chan also served in leadership roles at the American Academy of Actuaries and other organizations.

2026 SOA Bylaws Results
After a thorough and thoughtful voting process, eligible FSA voters approved the SOA Bylaws proposals reducing the Board size from 18 to 12 members and separating the roles of Board President and Chair.
Below are the vote totals for each proposal:
