Dear SOA members, 

It is a tremendous honor to be an endorsed candidate for the SOA Board of Directors. I am Vincent, an FSA and CERA who studied in the U.S., now working for a European reinsurer looking after the Asia Pacific markets. My 20-year international career is built in two distinctive episodes: 1) Gaining diversified experience as a corporate actuary, head of strategy, and a consultant executing transformations across 14 Asian markets, and 2) Serving as an AI/Tech leader for a reinsurer’s APAC business, sitting in the front row of how AI and advanced technologies are reshaping our industry and our profession. I am also a long-time contributor to various SOA/industrial forums and university programs. 

This is a time when the SOA must strengthen the actuarial profession, secure global growth and modernize for the AI era. Today, emerging technologies create a profound skill and leadership gap across financial services. How do we ensure the actuarial credential remains the top choice for global employers seeking AI-era leaders, and for young talents choosing their career tracks? I believe my profile is highly relevant to SOA’s three strategic focuses — 1) optimizing our candidate pipeline, 2) global growth, and 3) leveraging AI. If elected, I will dedicate my strategic acumen, cross-cultural collaborative skills, and hands-on tech/risk experience to effectively execute SOA’s strategic plan and to serve our worldwide membership collectively.

Describe your interest in serving on the SOA Board of Directors, including what motivates you to pursue Board service at this time and the specific ways you believe you could add value to the organization.

As an FSA (2008) and CERA (2007), I am motivated to serve at a time when the SOA must strengthen the actuarial profession, accelerate global growth, and modernize for the AI era. My 20+ years of experience bridging actuarial/consulting practices (e.g., New York Life, EY) and innovation and AI adoption (e.g., SCOR) across the Asia Pacific region allows me to act as a vital strategic bridge. I will add value by bringing a distinctive combination of on-the-ground international expertise, practical AI/technology leadership, and hands-on experience managing risks. Having led AI/tech transformations for dozens of insurance clients, I will provide the Board with firsthand insights to keep our credential at the absolute forefront of global financial services, equipping SOA members to lead confidently in a tech-driven world.
