Supporting a Diverse Profession
The Society of Actuaries believes that it best fulfills its mission when it is diverse and inclusive of all individuals, and that acceptance of diverse perspectives, cultures and backgrounds will attract the best talent and ensure the overall inclusivity of the actuarial profession.
To ensure a more diverse, equal and inclusive profession, the SOA is supporting a variety of organizations that advocate and help actuarial students, teachers and members around the world, including:
Abacus Actuaries is a network of aspiring, practicing, and former actuaries which strives to empower Asian professionals to achieve representation at the highest ranks of the actuarial discipline. To attain this goal, Abacus Actuaries facilitates community building, mentorship, and education programs to promote the professional development of its membership.
DonateThe International Association of Black Actuaries is a professional and student member organization whose mission is to contribute to an increase in the number of black actuaries and to influence the successful career development, civic growth and achievement of black actuaries.
The IABA’s mission is to be the world's leading actuarial organization dedicated to influencing diversity by developing and recognizing the achievement of black actuaries.
The Network of Actuarial Women and Allies (NAWA) is an organization for women and allies that empowers and connects women of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and life circumstances to be successful in the actuarial profession. Donations will support NAWA’s core goals of increasing equity and representation of women in the actuarial profession, creating a sense of community amongst women, and providing opportunities for development tailored toward women and allies.
DonateThe Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) was founded in 2017 to increase the number of Latino actuaries by promoting the profession and providing guidance, mentorship and networking opportunities. Donations to OLA can change the future of a Latino actuarial student. $200 will pay for exam materials, $250 will pay for an actuarial exam and $500 will help take students to events. Any contribution helps!
The Sexuality and Gender Alliance of Actuaries (SAGAA) purpose is to facilitate connections between LGBTQ+ actuaries and allies to engage in community-wide dialogue about LGBTQ+ issues. This group aims to create a safe space for dialogue, community, and career encouragement, while also educating the broader actuarial profession.
SANA is a non-profit organization, formed to support South Asian actuaries as they work towards their actuarial designations. Today, it is a growing international organization whose scope is beyond just exam support. Donations to SANA go towards educating the community about our actuarial profession, provide current and aspiring actuaries with professional development opportunities like interview & resume workshops, and to facilitate leadership development with mentorship and networking events. Help us make the actuarial community more diverse and inclusive.
