The Society of Actuaries’ Committee on Post Retirement Needs and Risks is pleased to make available an update to the Phase 1 report on Segmenting the Middle Market. The Phase 1 effort defined relevant consumer segments among middle-income / mid-level net worth households as shown in the Federal Reserve Board’s Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF). The Phase 2 effort defined decision processes that could lead to solutions that address the retirement risks of each segment.
This report updates the Phase 1 analysis with 2010 SCF data. The Phase 1 Update report, authored by Noel Abkemeier of Milliman, may be accessed by clicking the link to the right.
