2015-2024 Group Long-Term Disability Termination Experience Study

Summary

The Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute’s Group Disability Experience Committee (GDEC) and LIMRA have jointly conducted a study of group long-term disability claim termination experience covering calendar years 2015 through 2024. This is an update to the prior study covering calendar years 2009 through 2017. The intent of this study is to provide recent claim termination experience which can be compared to the 2008 Long-Term Disability Experience Table and the previous study. Eighteen companies contributed data to the current study, encompassing over 90% of industry sales during the study period. The current study encompasses over 43 million life-months exposed, approximately 937,000 recoveries, and over 181,000 deaths over a ten-year period.
