Description: "The presenters will focus on the applications of blockchain, RPA and data streamlining, as well as the implications for actuaries. There will be a review of how blockchain technology works, current applications and potential future applications of blockchain in the insurance industry. Robotic and cognitive automation (R&CA) continues to generate buzz in actuarial departments and the broader insurance space. Actuarial work is ripe with opportunities to improve, standardize and automate repetitive tasks to free up actuaries to focus on higher-value added analysis. But as with many technology-related projects, implementing robotic automation on complex actuarial processes is not necessarily a simple or straightforward journey. The presenters will focus on key items to consider when implementing robotic automation based on lessons learned from actual projects within actuarial departments. The data struggle is real, even for companies who have undertaken expensive finance transformation initiatives. This session will focus on the important relationship between actuaries and IT and how they can work together on best practices for extracting, managing and using the policy data needed for actuarial models. During this session, presenters will discuss a variety of data governance and control practices used when extracting policy data from administration systems. At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be able to:• Understand potential future applications of blockchain for the industry;• Understand key considerations when implementing robotic automation; and • Understand the best practices and pit falls of data processing before actuarial analysis."Hide
