Description: The degree of interaction between actuaries and lawyers practicing in the pension area has increased significantly in recent years. On the one hand, plan sponsors may gain from this interaction, as members of the two professions bring different perspectives and different sets of skills to bear on their problems. On the other hand, there may be friction in situations where the roles of the actuary and the lawyer overlap. This panel discussion focuses on the various ways in which actuaries and lawyers interact, and suggests ways to minimize the friction between them.
