These products have been available for close to 20 years in many countries around the world, including South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom and most of Asia. Many of the lessons learned in these countries concerning product design, pricing, underwriting and claims adjudication are relevant to the U.S. market. This session reviews the latest trends around the world. Attendees gain insight into the key issues driving the profitability of the product and are better positioned to determine the main considerations in deciding whether or not to introduce such a product in their market. Description: British actuary, also a noted financial expert, talks about the way that domestic financial systems are not in equilibrium. He specifically describes some of the underlying financial flows in the system, how those underlying financial flows drive markets responsible for markets either rising or falling, and then the behavior of those markets. Next, he assesses the sentiment of the markets. Last, he talks about what happens when the financial flows and expectations are in the same direction. Description: Companies operating in international markets have additional issues to consider from a risk management point of view. Fluctuations in exchange rates, political and sovereign risks, regulatory issues, capital management and human resources considerations are among these.
