Are you following any of the latest developments coming out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Amid the epic battles of our favorite heroes, there seems to be an increasing proliferation of confusion. Audiences are navigating a bombardment of alternate histories, different time lines and parallel dimensions. It can be a lot to wrap your brain around.
Similar challenges can be found in Long-Term Care Space (or is it a Multiverse?). New GAAP regulations are having us look backward as much as we are looking forward. Public plan proposals are imagining new creations with an assortment of features and attributes. Meanwhile, the COVID shadow looms over care providers and families.
It’s a lot to take in! The Long-Term Care (LTC) Section wanted to spotlight opportunities where you can catch up on the latest trends and research. While this is a quasi-advertisement of these events, we’d also love to invite you to don your mask and cape and contribute to a session.
Long-Term Care Events
ImpACT (October 25–29, 2021)
Several sessions touched on LTC:

- Combination Product Valuation on Trial
- Impact of COVID-19 on LTC
- Combination product development and risk management
- Aging and Retirement Issues for Different Races and Ethnicities
- Thinking Ahead Roadmap: Keep Your Money Safe as You Age
Several other sessions examined COVID impacts, climate risks, interest-rate environments and the future of the actuarial profession.
The LTC Virtual Medical Symposium (November 30 and December 2, 2021)

Did you catch the neurological deserts report from the SOA earlier this year? Do you ever think about all of the other advancements in technology, care delivery and medicine that will influence future LTCI claims?
The LTC Medical Symposium will be held as two webinars this year (two days apart), packed with noninsurance LTC experts to tell us about the environmental and secular trends that will impact LTC insurers. We expect to have representatives on the panels from gerontology, economics, a Medicaid managed care organization, the PACE program, eldertech companies, home health and nursing home agencies, and more.
ElderTech Summit (December 6–7, 2021)
Many superheroes depend on high-quality gadgets. Find out about the latest innovations hitting the senior care industry at this event.
ILTCI (March 21–23, 2022)

ElderTech and Living to 100 (Early 2023)
Like the Avengers, to conquer complicated challenges, you need a good team. Aging and technology topics will be joining forces in a combined conference in the near future.
