Assumption Development and Governance Group

(Subgroup of the Modeling Section)

Purpose
As valuation becomes increasingly dependent on assumptions and models grow in complexity, companies are under new pressures to provide solid governance around assumptions. As companies step up to these new demands, many are devoting additional resources to assumptions and looking for industry “best practices” regarding assumption management. This group provides a venue for discussion around how assumptions are tested, approved, documented, stored, implemented, and used.

The SOA Modeling Section has been selected to participate in the SOA Professional Interest Communities Pilot launching November 15, 2021, and continuing through the second quarter of 2022. During the pilot the Modeling Section will be part of the Emerging Topics (ET) Community, where you can engage directly online with other actuaries by networking, starting discussions, and sharing information relevant to your area of practice or special interests.
