Register for the Introduction to General Insurance (GIINT) Exam

To register for the Introduction to General Insurance (GIINT) Exam, you must register with The Institutes and have your 6-digit SOA ID number ready.

See below for more detailed instructions on the registration process.

STEP 1

Register with The Institutes at +1-800-644-2101 a maximum of six weeks before the registration deadline which is posted on our Dates and Deadlines web page. You will need to provide your 6-digit SOA ID number. The SOA ID can be found on previous exam order receipts. If you do not know your SOA ID number, contact the SOA at customerservice@soa.org or +1-888-697-3900. If you are having difficulties reaching The Institutes by phone you can reach out to them by email, TISupport@TheInstitutes.org.

STEP 2

Receive the GIINT exam registration confirmation email from The Institutes - follow the instructions within the confirmation email on how/when to test. Please note: The exam duration is not accurate on the confirmation email – You will have 90 minutes to complete a 60-question exam. If you do not receive the confirmation email from The Institutes, reach back out to them for further information.

STEP 3

In the time between your registration and the test date, you must find a supervisor/proctor to be present during your entire exam time. Supervisor/Proctor qualifications are below. You must provide the name of your selected proctor, the proctor’s qualifications, and the proctor’s contact information to the Society of Actuaries at customerservice@soa.org, no later than a week before exam day. Upon receipt of this information the Society of Actuaries will save it in your file, and reach out to your supervisor/proctor providing them with instructions and an attestation form.

FYI - anything to do with technical issues like accessing the exam on exam day, you must reach out to The Institutes for further instructions.
