Description: The international presence of SOA-designated actuaries is on the increase, and the International Section will be aligning many of its activities to complement those of the SOA’s International Committee while continuing current successful activities and initiatives.

Description: The presenters discuss the results from the CIA/SOA-sponsored survey on analytics practices of the Canadian life and health insurance industry. This is an opportunity to understand what other companies are doing and benchmark your practices with those of your peers and gain deeper insights about potential applications and their perceived value and effort. Attendees do not need specialized knowledge in predictive analytics to benefit from the information presented. Examples are provided from a Canadian context, but potential applications are relevant across a wide spectrum of geographies.

Description: Presenters will provide a quick recap of the activities of the Modeling Section over the past year and explore plans going into 2020, including specific attention to areas of interest within the Modeling Section's mandate, such as model governance and model efficiency. Open discussion and audience interaction is encouraged to help the Modeling Section Council continue their development of new activities and find new areas of interest to section members.
