Both the public and the government are becoming increasingly aware of the need and desirability for the widest possible coverage against the loss of income because of disability and against the cost of medical care. Description: The Committee's charge was to develop new disability tables for possible adoption by appropriate authorities for valuation of individual policy reserves, i.e. active life reserves, and individual and group claim reserves for disabled lives. It was generally agreed that the current valuation table, the 1964 Commissioner’s Disability Table, ‘1964 CDT,’ was no longer appropriate for several reasons. Description: This report presents the results of a study on morbidity experience of the New York Life. Since the major medical programs of the New York Life have been fairly typical of the programs offered by insurance companies during the 1950's, it was determinedt that the results of this morbidity study, as well as the steps taken in developing a new morbidity table, would be of interest. Description: The Joint Committee on Health Insurance appointed a subcommittee, known as Task Force 4, to study the problems of reserves for accident and health insurance. The final report of the Task Force, including basic tables of net annual claim costs for hospital and surgical expense insurance, was adopted by the NAIC at its December 1956 meeting. This article contains the Task Force's final report [included as Appendix A] and 30 Tables for use in valuing hospital and surgical expense insurance in accordance with the recommendations of Task Force 4.
